Crossware Mail Archive is a server-based application that automatically captures all emails passing through the mail servers. It consists of a central mail archiving index database and the created individual archive databases. The archive Index can be installed on an existing mail server or installed on its own Domino server (recommended). Every email passing through a mail server is captured and stored locally on the mail server or mail servers in a temporary place holder, then after a pre-defined interval, copied to the relevant archive. Archive databases can be limited by date or size (Mb), all stored emails in the archive are full-text indexed and can be searched in a number of ways using standard search or complex search forms. Emails within the mail files can be replaced with a stub that links to the original email in the archive database, thus reducing the size of the individual users mail files.
The centrally located 'Archive Index' is a separate database that is used for navigating and searching the archives. The index database provides a quick method of accessing the archives, eliminating the need for users to access the individual archive databases via the 'file .. open database' dialog.
